Booker DeWitt
Bioshock Infinite

Picture
  • First worn to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2014
  • Spent around $50
  • Worked on this costume on and off for two months

It was only natural to make Booker for Trevor as I made Elizabeth for myself. This was a game that we played together so I was really happy that I got to make these costumes. I felt that Trevor was a good match for Booker as the had the same height and build.

First thing I did for this costume was look around at what I already had, and figured out what needed to me made and what needed to be altered. I used a pair of old work pants and I added the pin stripes using a silver sharpie and a yard stick. The lines aren't perfect but it was a good enough match and saved me from having to buy/make a pair. I picked up a black dress shirt from Goodwill and I cut off the collar and cuffs. I used this to make a pattern for adding the white cuffs and collar to the shirt; I used white stretch sateen with a light weight interfacing.

The vest was the challenging part of this costume as it was the main piece that I had to make. I searched around for a pattern and settled on Simplicity 4762 and used style D, a few adjustments had to be made but it was an easy pattern to follow. My fabric search ended up being the most difficult part, the fabrics were super basic but I had no luck at JoAnn's. I gave a shot and sifted through their clearance section and ended up finding what I needed. This was the trick I used for this costume; instead of using the right side of the fabrics I used the wrong side. This gave me the perfect color matches and also added some nice textures to the costume. I decided to do hand embroidery to add the white detail to the collar. This was my first time doing embroidery and it was actually a fun little challenge. I used some gold buttons that I had in my stash and had some fun by added the little chain detail to the bottom two. The rest of the costume is pretty basic, I just made a standard red sash to add around the neck and the shoes were a pair we already had.

Because of Trevor's job he is not able to grow his hair out long like Booker's and I just couldn't find a wig to match. I know a lot people always ask about this, but you have to make due with that you can. I still think he looks rather handsome and pulls of the part well. Thanks to Hoodedwoman Cosplay for letting us borrow the Skyhook!
