WHY
I had been trying to come up with a simple and comfortable costume to wear on Friday of MegaCon. I thought of a few ideas and settled on Adventure Time; it would be something fun that both Trevor and I could wear together. He really is a big fan of the show and I was excited at the thought of dressing up as a little kid.

I used the skirt from my Police Girl Jill costume and I ordered the shirt and socks off of Amazon. The only thing I needed to make for this costume was the hat and back pack. I purchased the Finn hat from Hot Topic and I used that as a base pattern for Fionna. Under the hat I wear a head band that has bendable wire attached to it, and this goes straight up to prop up the ears. The back pack I made using a super awesome tutorial from Silkencat of deviantART, the fabric I used was felt and I just stuffed the bag with extra fabric to fatten it up.

I decided to make her crystal sword since I felt that the costume wasn't complete with out it. I made the shapes of the sword out of card board and I glued that around a dowel rod for support. The cardboard was then covered with paperclay and I sanded it down to be as smooth as possible. Then it was just a matter of painting it with acrylics and adding a glossy varnish.

For the bangs I used a long bang clip in from Arda in Light Blonde and I altered pair of ballet flats that I had for the shoes. The Cake plush I ordered online and it attached to my bag with a good old safety pin.

I absolutely adore this costume, the colors go together so well and it's just a blast being Fionna!
