This costume was also made to be part of our larger Mortal Kombat group at MegaCon. Trevor and Will decided to cosplay as the main ninjas from the game so Dee drafted a pattern we both could use. The whole goal of these costumes was to make them fit each person but to also have them match as closely as possible.
First step for this costume was to do some fabric shopping, I found some nice yellow cotton that matched the character. The guys wanted the simple look from the first game and opted to not do the quilted design. Dee drafted the pattern for Will's Sub-Zero costume and since they wanted to match I used the same patter for Scorpion. The tabard has two layers of fabric with stiff sew-in interfacing between the layers. The pieces sew together at the shoulder and go down to the waist where the end of each piece is sewn to a simple belt. For the original costume there is only a flap in the front of the costume, this was also made the same as the tabard and it is also sewn onto the belt. All the pieces of the costume were sewn down onto the make shift belt so we made another belt to go on top of that one which was purely cosmetic. The shin guards are also made out the same cotton but instead of using interfacing I used a thin quilt batting between the layers of fabric. They also have bias around the edges and elastic around the top and bottom to hold it to the leg. As for the mask that is just a doubled square of fabric with elastic that holds it in place.
The ninja suit(which included the pants, hood & armbands) were ordered from Karate Depot, the shoes were borrowed from a friend but you can also purchase them on the site.
