Cosplay has always been something that I have been extremely passionate about, I always try to improve and push myself every year. The best part of this hobby is the wonderful people you meet and the awesome friends that you make along the way. I find myself very fortunate to have been keeping this dream alive for the past ten years and I don't regret a thing.
I first started piecing together costumes from store bought items and then as time went on I started to teach myself to sew. The first few years everything was sewn by hand but now it's all done mostly on a machine. My friends have been my greatest asset and have taught me so much over the years. I usually do use store bought patterns and most of the time they end up getting altered extremely, but there is the occasion where I draft my own. Eventually I got into props and my Dad was always there to help me out with wood cutting and airbrushing and lots of other things. At this point I am very proud of all my costumes and all the crazy adventures I have had along the way! |
MsValentine?
MsValentine came from when I first started cosplaying, my second costume ever was Faye Valentine. So when I started to sign up for cosplay web-sites and stuff I just thought it would be cute and fit with all my Faye pictures. I used it on everything I signed up for, so that I would only have to remember one name instead of a whole bunch. My next costume was actually Jill so it fit even better.
So why cosplay?
Like most people I use to dress up every year for Halloween before I even knew about cosplay. Ever since I could remember my parents always went all out for the holiday and dressed up. So I have been around costumes all my life. One year I was Tifa, then Lara Croft, even Scully from The X-Files many years ago. It wasn't until my best friend decided to attend the first MetroCon, that I really got into it. I wanted to go in costume because I thought it would be more fun that way. And now I just cant imagine myself out of costume at a con.
