Viking Sisters
Dee had asked me if I would want to make a viking costume to match one she had made for a party. She was nice enough to come over the night before the shoot and supply me with all the fabric. She drafted a dress pattern real quick and we got to work on putting it all together. I found a photo of a viking Halloween costume online and we used that as a style guide. I really wanted to have a Valkyrie styled head band so I busted out some foamie and made the head wings. This costume was really comfy to wear and it was a lot of fun having a matching outfit with Dee.
The dress itself is made out of stretch poplin, the belt, bracelets and trim are pleather and the the fur is just faux fur.
We went to St. Augustine and wandered around getting some great photos along the way. Yes the weapons are from The Lord of the Rings replica collection, personally I think they are a good fit for these costumes. Thanks to Will for supplying only the finest weapons that Middle Earth has to offer And thanks to Trevor for being our set director and for helping us come up with posing ideas XD
I went for the "Vanessa" look from the Making Faces makeup guide using : MAC eyeliner in black, Maybelline Expertwear eyeshadow quad #70 - Time for Wine, Lancome's super-enhancing mascara base, L'Oreal's Voluminous Million Lashes and Estee Lauder Double Wear powder makeup. I sure do know how to mix brands, but if it works go for it.
